One thing (a good thing right?) about the LC lifestyle is that you have to cook from scratch to really know what you are getting and to avoid hidden carbs, sodium and processed crap - not to mention real vitamins and minerals. But not everyone is thrilled facing a mountain of veggies to cook and ordering pizza is not an option most days - even Papa Murphy's Low Carb deLite Pizza.
I was wondering how long it would take for the frozen food sector to create low carb meals - not that it's so hard taking a package of mixed veggies, adding some meat and stir fry sauce (LC of course) and making a quick dinner.
Birdseye has created the Voila reduced carb meals - where each bag makes 4 servings at 6-13 grams of carbs per serving depending. Not sure why they say reduced carb VS low carb - I guess they are trying to tread a line that will be determined by the FDA at some point in the near future. As far as I know, there is no current government standard as to what constitutes "low carb." There are 5 versions of reduced carb Voila! and no idea on the pricing of these, but everything you need is included - meat, too. Can't say I would use these regularly (I think cooking from scratch is important) but some days it would be a help.
Actually these aren't super new, but I hadn't seen them in my area. Guess if you have tried them, or know a price, leave a comment!
