I was thirsty for something refreshing not water or diet drinks, and so I thought I'd drink a mini bottle of Tonic water. I hadn't touched one in months (I like a gin and tonic with lots of lime in the summer) and somehow thought I was imbibing 0 carbs.
I was sipping watching one of my guilty pleasure reality shows, and during a commercial decided to check the sodium count. Ok....reading down the label....ACK! 30 grams of carbs (28g sugar). What the hell was I thinking? I thought it tasted rather sweet for a "water" - but must've confused club soda's carb count but better read those labels, too.
Guess the moral of the story is to not get smug and to be more vigilant - including reading labels - if this way of eating is going to be my long term lifestyle.
